This is the ordinary, neutral word for grapes. Thai does not mark singular or plural on the noun itself, so องุ่น may refer to one grape, multiple grapes, or grapes as a type of fruit. ลูก can be used for individual grapes, while พวง is used for bunches: องุ่นหนึ่งลูก means “one grape,” and องุ่นหนึ่งพวง means “one bunch of grapes.” Grapes are also commonly bought by weight. When the plant itself needs to be identified clearly, ต้นองุ่น means “grapevine.” The expression ปลูกองุ่น means “to grow or cultivate grapes.”
Usage
