Caution
Do not confuse ประกันสุขภาพ with ประกันชีวิต, “life insurance,” or ประกันสังคม, Thailand’s social security system. The term often refers to private health insurance, so it does not necessarily denote a government-run scheme. To say “take out health insurance,” ทำประกันสุขภาพ or ซื้อประกันสุขภาพ is natural.
