คิดว่า is made from คิด “think” and ว่า, which introduces the content of the thought. The usual pattern is คิดว่า + clause. The subject is often omitted in conversation when it is clear from context. In questions such as คุณคิดว่า...? or คิดว่าไง, it asks for someone’s opinion. ไม่คิดว่า... means “do not think that...” or “did not expect that...”.
