ซะด้วย combines ซะ, a conversational emphatic form historically related to เสีย, with ด้วย, which commonly marks addition. It usually comes after the predicate or statement being emphasized. Rather than merely meaning “too,” it adds information while displaying the speaker’s attitude. Depending on the context, that attitude may be surprise, admiration, annoyance, defiance, or irony. In a negative sentence, it can make the denial more pointed, as in ฉันไม่กลัวซะด้วย, “I’m not scared at all.” In a reminder such as อย่าลืม…ซะด้วย, it stresses that the additional action should not be forgotten. These are contextual uses of the same emphatic, additive function rather than wholly separate meanings.
Usage
Common in everyday conversation and informal messages when adding a surprising advantage, an unexpected fact, or one more complaint. It also appears in emphatic denials and reminders between people who are relatively close.
Caution
ซะด้วย is conversational and emotionally marked. For neutral addition in formal or objective writing, ด้วย or อีกด้วย is usually more appropriate. With a forceful denial or command, it may sound defiant or blunt, so tone and social relationship matter. เสียด้วย may appear as the less colloquial written form.
