Explanation

ตลอดคืน combines ตลอด, meaning “throughout” or “for the whole duration,” with คืน, meaning “night.” It normally functions as a time adverb after an action or state. Depending on context, it does not always imply literally uninterrupted activity; it can also describe something that continued or repeatedly occurred over the course of the night.

Usage

Used when talking about working or studying through the night, being unable to sleep, weather or noise lasting overnight, caring for someone until morning, or a business remaining open all night. It is natural in both conversation and writing.

Caution

It does not simply mean “at night”; use ตอนกลางคืน for an event occurring at some point during nighttime. Do not confuse it with ทุกคืน, which means “every night,” not “all night.”
