Explanation
This is a loanword from English “check out.” It is commonly used when ending a stay and completing the departure process at a hotel, guesthouse, or similar accommodation. It is mainly used as a verb. It also appears after a noun in phrases such as เวลาเช็คเอาท์, “check-out time.” The opposite action is เช็คอิน, “to check in.” The alternative spelling เช็กเอาต์ is also used. เช็คเอาท์ is widely seen in hotels, booking websites, and everyday writing.
Usage
It is commonly used at a hotel front desk and when discussing departure time, payment, or returning a room key.
Caution
It does not simply mean to walk out of a room or building. Use ออก for the general meaning “leave” or “go out” when no formal check-out process is involved.
