Explanation
วัน means “day” or marks a day of the week, and วันพฤหัสบดี as a whole is the standard name for Thursday. When Thursday indicates when something happens, it can normally follow the verb directly: เจอกันวันพฤหัสบดี means “See you on Thursday.” No equivalent of the English preposition “on” is required. ทุกวันพฤหัสบดี means “every Thursday,” วันพฤหัสบดีนี้ means “this or coming Thursday,” and วันพฤหัสบดีหน้า means “next Thursday.” In writing, the name may be abbreviated as วันพฤหัสฯ.
Usage
It is used in everyday conversation, schedules, workplace or school notices, and business-hour information when identifying Thursday or arranging something for that day.
Caution
The full standard weekday form is วันพฤหัสบดี. Expressions such as วันพฤหัสบดีนี้ and วันพฤหัสบดีหน้า can be interpreted differently depending on when the conversation takes place, so add the calendar date for important arrangements. Do not confuse วัน, used here as part of a weekday name, with วันที่, which introduces a calendar date.
