ตะเกียบ is the standard, neutral word for chopsticks in both everyday conversation and restaurant settings. Common combinations include ใช้ตะเกียบ “use chopsticks,” คีบด้วยตะเกียบ “pick something up with chopsticks,” and ขอตะเกียบหน่อย “Could I have some chopsticks?” Because chopsticks normally come as a pair, คู่ “pair” is used when counting them: ตะเกียบหนึ่งคู่ means “one pair of chopsticks.” ข้าง can be used when referring to just one of the two sticks.
