Explanation
คราวหน้า is formed from คราว, meaning an occasion or occurrence, and หน้า, which here means “next.” Although its structure is literally “the next occasion,” it commonly functions adverbially in sentences, as in คราวหน้าจะ… (“next time, I will…”). It points to the next recurrence of an activity or situation rather than to the future in general. It is common in both casual and polite conversation.
Usage
Commonly used after a mistake to promise improvement next time, when saying goodbye with the idea of meeting again, or when postponing a suggestion to another occasion. Frequent patterns include คราวหน้า followed by a clause and เอาไว้คราวหน้า (“let’s save it for next time”).
Caution
คราวหน้า does not mean an indefinite “someday” or the future in general. Use ทีหลัง for “later” and อนาคต when speaking broadly about the future. It normally identifies the next occasion, so it does not by itself mean “from now on” or promise a continuing change after that occasion.
