The adjectival sense appears in everyday compounds such as กลางแจ้ง “outdoors” and in more formal descriptive expressions such as ชัดแจ้ง “explicitly clear.”

Caution

For casually telling a friend something, บอก is usually more natural. แจ้ง tends to suggest a clear notification or communication of information that the recipient needs to know. Also, แจ้งตำรวจ broadly means “notify the police,” while แจ้งความ specifically refers to formally reporting an incident or complaint to the police.
