Explanation

ส่งผล is formed from ส่ง, “to send,” and ผล, “result” or “effect.” Together, it describes an effect or result arising from a cause. Two common patterns are A ส่งผลต่อ B and A ส่งผลให้ C. In the first, B is the person or thing affected. In the second, C is the resulting event or condition. The word itself is neutral and can describe either positive or negative effects. ส่งผลดี specifies a positive effect, while ส่งผลเสีย specifies a negative one.

Usage

Commonly used when discussing how health habits, economic conditions, policies, environmental changes, and similar factors affect something else. It can appear in conversation, but is especially frequent in news, reports, business, and other objective explanations of cause and effect.

Caution

Use ส่งผลต่อ before the affected target and ส่งผลให้ before the resulting event or condition. Despite containing ส่ง, this expression does not ordinarily mean physically sending something.
