Explanation

This is a standard noun used in everyday conversation, job advertisements, and financial reporting. It can describe both regular income and money earned from a one-time job. Common patterns include มีรายได้, “have an income,” and หารายได้, “earn income.” เขามีรายได้เดือนละสามหมื่นบาท means “He earns 30,000 baht a month.” Use รายได้จาก followed by a source to say where the income comes from. รายได้จากการขายกาแฟ means “revenue from selling coffee.” Income is usually described by an amount or a period.

Usage

Use it when discussing income and side jobs, reporting monthly income on an application, or comparing household income with expenses. It is also common when describing changes in a company's or shop's revenue.

Caution

รายได้ alone does not specify whether an amount is before or after tax. It also does not cover every deposit into an account: borrowed money, for example, is not income.
