Explanation

เรียน means “to study” or “to attend school,” and จบ means “to end” or “to complete.” Together, they present graduation as reaching the end of a course of study. เรียนจบแล้ว means “have already graduated,” while เรียนจบมหาวิทยาลัย means “graduate from university.” To identify a particular school as one’s alma mater, the common pattern is เรียนจบจาก followed by the school’s name. The expression can also be followed by a degree or field, as in เรียนจบปริญญาตรี, “complete a bachelor’s degree,” or เรียนจบด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์, “graduate in engineering.”

This expression normally refers to completing an entire educational program, not finishing one study session or class. Use เรียนเสร็จ for finishing a particular period of study and เลิกเรียน for classes ending or school letting out. Formal documents may prefer จบการศึกษา or สำเร็จการศึกษา.
