Explanation

It commonly follows the pattern ทบทวน + the thing being reviewed. The object may be omitted when it is clear from context. The word is neutral and is used in both everyday and formal settings.

Usage

It is common in school and language-learning contexts when reviewing lessons, vocabulary, or grammar. In professional and official settings, it is used when reconsidering plans, policies, rules, or decisions. It can also describe mentally reviewing past events or one’s own actions.

Caution

For simply repeating a physical action, ทำซ้ำ is usually more appropriate. ทบทวน implies returning to the content in order to check memory, understanding, or soundness.
