เย้า

Explanation

As a verb, เย้า centers on saying or doing something that stimulates another person and draws a reaction. Among friends it can mean lighthearted teasing, while a hostile context can make it closer to provoking or taunting. Usage

Caution

Teasing with เย้า may sound insulting or provocative when directed at a stranger or a person of higher status. Do not confuse it with เหย้า, which refers to a home or household. For the ethnic name, เมี่ยน may be preferred today because it reflects the group’s own name.
