Learning notes
Explanation
The expression consists of อาทิตย์, meaning “week” here, and ที่แล้ว, meaning “previous” or “past.” Together they refer to the immediately preceding week. It can naturally appear near the beginning or end of a sentence. For example, อาทิตย์ที่แล้วฉันทำงาน and ฉันทำงานอาทิตย์ที่แล้ว both mean “I worked last week.” With ตั้งแต่, the phrase ตั้งแต่อาทิตย์ที่แล้ว means “since last week.”
Usage
It is commonly used in everyday conversations about activities, events, travel, work, health, and other matters from the previous week. It works naturally in both questions and answers.
Caution
Although อาทิตย์ can also mean “Sunday” or “the sun,” อาทิตย์ที่แล้ว normally means “last week.” To say “last Sunday” unambiguously, use วันอาทิตย์ที่แล้ว.
