Caution

ดำรงชีวิต does not mean “reside.” Use อยู่ or อาศัยอยู่ when stating where someone lives. ดำรงตำแหน่ง focuses on the continuing state of holding a position, not the moment of appointment. Use รับตำแหน่ง or เข้ารับตำแหน่ง for taking office. Do not confuse the spelling with ธำรง, a separate word also associated with preserving or upholding something.
