เป็นยังไงบ้าง is an open-ended question about someone’s condition or the state, outcome, or overall impression of something. It consists of เป็น “to be; to be in a particular state,” ยังไง “how; what kind of,” and บ้าง. Here, บ้าง suggests asking about various aspects of the topic and gives the question a softer, more conversational feel. A common pattern is “topic + เป็นยังไงบ้าง.” With a current situation it means “How is it going?” With a completed event such as an exam or trip, it means “How did it go?” With a person, place, or work of entertainment, it can mean “What is it like?” ครับ may be added by male speakers and คะ by female speakers for politeness. เป็นอย่างไรบ้าง is the more formal equivalent.

Usage

Use it to ask friends or coworkers how they have been, check on someone’s health, or ask how an exam, interview, trip, or other experience went. It is also natural when asking about work progress or someone’s impression of a movie, place, or person.

Caution

Although ยังไง can ask “how” in the sense of method, เป็นยังไงบ้าง normally asks about a condition, outcome, or impression—not how to do something. Thai does not change this phrase into a past-tense form, so context determines whether it means “How is it?” or “How did it go?” For a specific fact such as a price or time, use a more specific question.
