Explanation
ขาออก combines ขา, which here means one leg, side, or direction of movement, with ออก, “to go out.” It therefore carries the basic image of movement from the inside toward the outside. Its usual opposite is ขาเข้า, referring to the incoming or arrival side.
Usage
It is common in airports, stations, border facilities, and traffic reports, as well as in trade, telephone, and networking contexts. It appears naturally in both everyday speech and signs or operational terminology.
Caution
For a physical “exit,” ทางออก is normally the appropriate word. Also, the return leg of a trip is generally ขากลับ; it should not automatically be called ขาเข้า simply because that is the usual directional opposite of ขาออก.
