Explanation

ดี means “good,” and ไหม turns the expression into a question. Its basic logic is “Would that be good?” After a thing, situation, or method, it asks for an evaluation or approval. For example, แบบนี้ดีไหม checks whether doing it “like this” is acceptable. After an action phrase, it presents that action as an idea and asks whether the other person agrees, so it naturally functions as a gentle suggestion. The pattern verb + กัน + ดีไหม is common when inviting someone to do something together. For polite speech, a male speaker can add ครับ and a female speaker can add คะ at the end.

Usage

Common in everyday conversation when asking for an opinion about clothes, restaurants, work, or a method; checking whether an arrangement is acceptable; or suggesting meals, outings, plans, and other actions. It is useful when you want the other person to have a say in the decision.

Caution

This is not a general yes-or-no question marker for checking any fact. It specifically asks whether something is good, acceptable, or agreeable as a proposal. Place it after the thing or action being evaluated, and add ครับ or คะ when politeness is appropriate.
