It commonly occurs in combinations such as มุ่งสู่ “head toward,” เข้าสู่ “enter,” ก้าวสู่ “move into,” and นำไปสู่ “lead to.” The pattern จาก A สู่ B highlights a transition from A to B. It is especially common in writing, news, advertising, slogans, and formal presentations.
Usage
It is used for travel toward a destination, transitions into a new period or state, developments leading to a result, and efforts directed toward a group of people. It is also common in headlines and promotional language that emphasizes goals such as the future or success.
Caution
For an ordinary statement such as “go to school,” ไปโรงเรียน is natural; ไปสู่โรงเรียน normally is not. สู่ is more writing-oriented than basic ไป and highlights direction toward a destination or goal. Some dictionaries also list verbal senses meaning “share” or “visit,” but these have limited importance in general modern usage and mainly survive in particular expressions.
