Explanation
หาร is one of the four basic arithmetic verbs, alongside บวก (add), ลบ (subtract), and คูณ (multiply). “A หารด้วย B” means “A divided by B.” ด้วย can also be omitted. Use ได้ to introduce the result. หารลงตัว means that a division comes out evenly, with no remainder; หารไม่ลงตัว means that it does not. When discussing expenses, หารกัน means to split the cost. If the expense is already understood, หารกันนะ is enough to suggest splitting it. คนละ followed by an amount states how much each person pays.
Usage
Use it in arithmetic lessons and when calculating averages or amounts per person. It also comes up when friends split restaurant bills, taxi fares, or accommodation costs.
Caution
หารกัน does not specifically mean that everyone pays for what they ordered. To make that arrangement clear, use ต่างคนต่างจ่าย (each person pays their own way). To specify equal shares, say หารเท่า ๆ กัน.
