Explanation
โมง refers to a point on the clock, not an amount of elapsed time. Common patterns include กี่โมง (“what time”), เจ็ดโมงเช้า (“7 a.m.”), บ่ายโมง (“1 p.m.”), บ่ายสองโมง (“2 p.m.”), and ห้าโมงเย็น (“5 p.m.”). Thai clock expressions change according to the part of the day, so the accompanying number and time-of-day word are important. When the context is clear, the time-of-day word may be omitted, as in สามโมง.
Usage
It is common in everyday situations such as arranging a meeting, asking about business hours, or saying when someone will wake up, leave, or arrive.
Caution
Do not use โมง by itself for duration: “two hours” is สองชั่วโมง. Also, nighttime clock expressions use ทุ่ม or ตี, so โมง cannot simply be added to every hour number.

นาฬิกา means “clock” or “watch” and also marks time in the formal 24-hour system, as in สิบห้านาฬิกา (“15:00”). โมง is the usual word in conversational expressions such as กี่โมง and เจ็ดโมงเช้า.
