This is a common word in both everyday conversation and business announcements. It covers customer care as well as services such as delivery, telecommunications, healthcare, and public services. Useful patterns include มีบริการ… for saying a service is available, ให้บริการ for providing a service, and ใช้บริการ for using one. In opening-hours notices, เปิดให้บริการทุกวัน means “open every day,” and ให้บริการตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง means “service available 24 hours a day.”
Usage
Use it to discuss service at shops and hotels, ask what services a facility offers, or describe a business’s services, opening hours, and fees.
Caution
บริการ does not imply that a service is free or especially good. Add ฟรี to specify that it is free, or ดี to describe good service. For repairing or maintaining a vehicle or machine, use a more specific verb such as ซ่อม or บำรุงรักษา rather than treating บริการ as a direct equivalent of English “service.”
